Florida Southern Claims NCAA Division II Title, Finishes No. 1 in Final DII Coaches Poll
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.— Florida Southern College closes out the 2026 season as the No. 1-ranked team in the final IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll of the season.
The Mocs (21-1) secured a 9-7 victory over No. 8 Maryville on Saturday to claim the program’s second NCAA Division II National Championship and its first since 2016.
Florida Southern’s championship run featured several marquee victories throughout the postseason. The Mocs defeated defending national champion Tampa in an overtime thriller to secure the South Region title before earning a 14-9 win over Flagler in the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals. In the national semifinals, FSC powered past Pace to advance to the championship game.
Maryville finishes the season ranked No. 2 following the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship game. The Saints made history throughout the postseason, including an 11-10 victory over UIndy to secure the program’s first Final Four berth. Maryville mounted a late rally in the title game to pressure Florida Southern in the closing minutes before ultimately finishing as national runner-up. The Saints concluded the year with a 14-5 overall record and a 6-1 mark in GLVC play.
Flagler moves to No. 3 in the final rankings after advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Saints wrapped up a stellar season at 20-1 overall, including a perfect 5-0 record in Gulf South Conference competition.
Tied at No. 4 are East Stroudsburg and UIndy. East Stroudsburg capped an impressive campaign with a Final Four appearance and finished the season 20-2 overall with a perfect 12-0 record in PSAC play. UIndy completed its historic 2026 season with an 18-2 record, the second-best finish in program history, before falling to Maryville in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Final.
In total, 25 teams are represented in the poll, with voters—college coaches from across the nation—reflecting the latest results across women’s lacrosse. The rankings are based on weekly performances, with this being the final poll of the 2026 season.
